Are we related? Checking at Family Search's RootsTech

Until the end of March you can check if you are related to me by using the link below. You will need a free account and a tree on Family Search. This relies on the information entered by the users and is for use as HINTS and not to be taken as correct until you have verified each link.

One example is my Ball ancestry. I am NOT related to Col William Ball, a grandfather of George Washington. See my earlier article on the Washington-Ball ancestry. My ancestors John Ball and his son, Moses Ball, owned land that became Mt Vernon, and Moses worked for George Washington. In his writings, Washington refers a coorespondent to Moses Ball for information about "family land" because Moses and John Ball had owned the land before the Washington family. He nowhere refers to Moses Ball as kin.

Let me know if you find a verifiable connection. Happy Hunting!

New books on Daniel Boone ancestry

A new set of books has come out on the "Boone Family Immigrants to
America" by Jim White,
http://www.lulu.com/content/hardcover-book/boone-family-immigrants-to-america/7221466
and a second volume,
http://www.lulu.com/content/hardcover-book/boone-family-immigrants-to-america---volume-ii/7541829

These books purport to take the Boone family back to France and then
to Suffolk and Devonshire, England. He also treats several collateral families, among them the Morgan family.

He gives the following ancestry for Sarah Morgan, wife of Squire Boone:
1 Sarah Morgan

2 Edward Morgan, b Rotterdam, m 1685 on Long Island, d 1736, Gwynedd, PA
3 Elizabeth Burnett, b Scotland came to NJ with 3 brothers

4 Capt Jenkin Morgan, b 1634, Westminster, Middlesex, Eng, m 16 jan
1655, DRC Rotterdam, d 1695, Bergen Co., NJ
5 Rebecca Evans
6-7 ????

8 Thomas Morgan, Esq., b 1600, d 1643
9 Catherine Jones, b 1615, d 1659, Rotterdam.
10 Capt Thomas Evans
11 Frances Powell
12-17 ????
18 John Jones
19- ??????

According to another source, #8's birth date is 1589. I have yet to find any marriage info for him or a list of children.

The Captain titles are for ship captains as named in Dutch records.

While the author often quotes the Dutch records he does not give
complete citations, since he
"does not want to do your genealogy for you".

You can see previews of the books at the URLs above.

My line to Sarah Morgan is

Steven C. Perkins
Denval Perkins=Mary Ruth Ball
Eleanor Walker Inman=Henry Perkins
Andrew J Walker=Rutha Manning
Nathaniel Walker=Martha Ann Wiatt
Jesse Walker=Margaret Bishop
Mary Wilcoxon=Renelder Walker
Sarah Boone=John Wilcoxon
Sarah Morgan=Squire Boone

He has also written a book on the Ball families in Virginia which
really focuses on Col William Ball with a proposed ancestry for him.
